The British Antarctic Survey Estates Team, based in Cambridge, has responsibility for the buildings and facilities management of our Cambridge site as well as out stations in Antarctica.
Our ambition
Is to support delivery of world-class science in some of the most inhospitable places on earth. Our role is to ensure that BAS is able to conduct safety-critical operations at the limits of human and equipment performance.
Team priorities
Delivery of a safe, responsive and reliable service 24/7/365 in dispersed, isolated and exposed locations
Driving continuous improvement in our services to ensure that all aspects of our facilities in Cambridge and the Antarctic are fit for purpose, now and into the future
Work closely with colleagues in the BAS Project Office, technical advisors, construction partners and key stakeholders to deliver the Antarctic Infrastructure Modernisation Programme
Delivering safe, environmentally sound and sustainable infrastructure
Technology, innovation and training
Optimise the use of digital tools to manage our work, including Project Portfolio Management (PPM) Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Management (BIM) systems
Stakeholder engagement
Establish and maintain positive and mutually beneficial relationships with construction partners and technical advisors
